Brush up on your benefits

UnitedHealthcare dental coverage is designed to do more, with:

  • 373,000 access points for dental care nationwide.
  • Dental coverage on select services for 8 chronic conditions, including pregnancy.
  • No additional cost or referrals needed for expanded maternity dental care.

UnitedHealthcare offers two FEDVIP dental options, Standard and High. Which you choose should depend on the state of your smile, and what’s most cost-effective for you and your family.

For diagnostic & preventive services, either plan is the same.

For more complex services and orthodontia, the High option offers greater levels of coverage, whether for a child or an adult.

What’s in that grin?

What you don’t know about oral health can hurt you. Gum disease can contribute to a host of other health issues, including diabetes, heart disease, respiratory ailments and rheumatoid arthritis.2 So regular visits to your dentist may catch a lot more than tartar buildup.

Good habits, good health

Your FEDVIP benefits offer 100% coverage when you visit a network dentist for preventive care2:

  • Two routine checkups per year—one every 6 months.
  • Annual oral cancer screenings (for covered adults 18 and older).
  • Extra cleanings and gum treatments for expectant mothers—as recommended by your dentist.4

Learn about other connections between oral health and overall health:

Our Dental education highlights empower members to improve their health overall through wellness education and tips, including:

  • Tips on keeping your child’s teeth healthy.
  • How to eat right for better oral health.
  • How to care for your mouth when you have diabetes.

UnitedHealthcare Dental Resources educates members on key oral care topics, including the possible impact of opioids prescribed after oral surgery.

Something to chew on 50% of adults over 30 in the U.S. have gum disease.3
