Finding care is as easy as 1-2-3-4
With the UnitedHealthcare Provider Search tool, you can find a network doctor, behavioral health provider or facility with ease.
- Select your health plan, by asking yourself these questions:
- What are my health needs?
- Is my provider in the network?
- What are the plan details?
- Know your provider designations, shown at right
- Go to the relevant Provider Search tool
- Search for a doctor or facility, by
- Name
- Location
- Specialty
- Patient ratings
- And more
With your search results, you’ll be able to see if the provider is accepting new patients, read patient reviews, get directions, and even log in to view costs (if you’re a current UnitedHealthcare member).
How to recognize provider designations
Tier 1 providers – available with the Triple Choice Plan
In-network providers – covered at the tier 2 benefit level with the Triple Choice Plan
Premium Care Physicians – look for this with the High Deductible Health Plan
Note that you may see more than one tier designation next to Tier 1 and Premium Care providers. Tier 1, for instance, will also display the in-network check mark.
How to find the best provider for your plan
Choosing a doctor is one of the most important health decisions you’ll make, so we help make it easier. Depending upon your plan, your best choice may be either a Tier 1 provider or a UnitedHealth Premium® Care Physician – both providers rated for their quality,
efficient care.TIER 1 Tier 1 providers – Triple Choice Plan
Your tiered benefit plan is specifically designed so you pay less when you see Tier 1 doctors and specialists. Just spot the blue dot for:
- Doctors recognized for helping you get the greatest value from your health benefits
- National network coverage, so you have options at home or on the road
- 100% coverage for preventive care
Premium Care Physicians – HDHP plan
From PCPs to specialists, we make it easy to find providers who meet the criteria most important to you. When you see the two blue hearts it indicates physicians who meet the UnitedHealth Premium quality care criteria: safe, timely, effective and efficient care. Those hearts mean you can be certain you’re choosing a doctor who has:
- Proven better outcomes
- Fewer redo procedures
- Lower complication rates
- Experience making the most of your health care dollars
In-network providers — Triple Choice and HDHP plans
When you choose a UnitedHealthcare network provider – even one who hasn’t yet been rated a Tier 1 or Premium Care provider – you may pay less than with an out-of-network provider.
Where to go for care
Your primary care physician (PCP) or family doctor should be your first stop. They have easy access to your records, see the big picture involving your health, and may even offer same-day appointments. Of course, if you’re not able to see PCP, for whatever reason, it helps to know your quick care options – and avoid financial surprises.
